discipline

Horizon 10/21/2009
speaker: Johnson Pang

What does discipline mean to you?

what is the difference between wisdom and knowledge?
- wisdom is the proper application of knowledge
- Knowledge = informed; Wisdom = transformed

Descipline requires hard work
Discipline requires right timing
Take action
passivity brings poverty

We often have this mentality:
"Jesus is my Lord and Savior but I will follow Him later."
Do it TODAY, obey God NOW
delayed obedience is also a sin.

how often do we say?
- oh yeah, i've been good with my devos lately, it's ok to skip one day, i will catch up tomorrow
- i'm running late... will do devos in car... *gets distracted in car*... *gets distracted at work/lunch/work/driving home* by bedtime... "ah, i'll do it tomorrow morning"
- just let me sleep 5 more minutes

do you hit the snooze button? (guilty) If so, how many times? (how ever many times I could get away with)

doing nothing leads to nothing.

indecision is a decision.

wow. so yeah, as u can see, we had an awesome fellowship and followed by omg oh so good small group.
the questions for us from the msg is: how are your spiritual disciplines? (not good...) what areas do you desire to have more discipline in? (prayer, reading) what do you believe God has called you to do with your life, and how are you taking action to fulfill that? what ways can we keep each other accountable in small group, so that we don't remain passive and celebrate mediocrity in life?

what i shared about what i want to work on this week is the very fact that i will meditate and think more on this msg. the reason why that's my goal (small goal too) is because alot of times i listen to the msg, and i think "hey, that really make sense", or "i really need to work on that" but i don't do anything about it. until Justin asks me about what i liked about so-and-so's msg, i probably have forgotten about it.
this week i am going to think about this discipline issue, plus how i can improve.

but yeah, all i can say is wow.

and thank you God that my new super awesome housemate, Kristi came to fellowship with us!!!!!

Yesterday, I started getting sore throat (one of my coworkers was sick :( ) and so I have been trying to NOT get sick. not good timing :(

Justin and I were supposed to go to David and Nadia's house to cook dinner for them since they just had a baby....
but now we can't do that coz we can't risk getting them sick, you know?

We've been trying to do our thank you cards this week... and I think we only did like 60%.
Still need to stamp them and address them.

Tonight for Fellowship the whole fellowship is doing take out at Chili's because for work, Medtronic is helping JDRF (Juveniles Diabetes Research Foundation) fundraise... it's been crazy around here. Everything is JDRF.
We have themed baskets for raffle, In 'n Out cookout, Taco Truck is coming, Bakesale, and for tonight, Chilis is donating 15% of the bill (when we give them this coupon) to JDRF!
So I brought it up during fellowship and decided that we'll do a takeout at Chili's. It should be fun.
The new housemate, Kristi is coming too. to fellowship.

now both of our housemates are christian girls :) hoo-rayyy.
